Scientific research leads to the conclusion that it can help to struggle virus’s, slow aging and even cure depression, but as our reporter discovers the latest batch of Green Tea imported from Plates into New Zealand could have the opposite effect. STORY: Its 9am, time for a cup of tea right? Sounds pretty harmless but what if this cup of tea was your last? The New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA) is notification people not to consume in any way seeds that may be found in a Chinese green tea. This product is sold under various brand names such as Heng Ming and Canton Like Pea tea. It is widely availed through out Asian supermarkets and Eastern medicine outlets. [Geoff Allan, New Zealand Food Safety Authority]: “If you consumed the seeds themselves, the toxins within the seeds are very poisonous and a small amount of that could very well prove to be fatal.” The tea was pulled from the shelves when an inspector found that its contents did not match what was on paper in the ingredients. It contained toxic pods that had not been removed. The product is now being withdrawn from sale and recalled by the importer. Fascinating never new the seeds are toxic. I have seen bits of the seeds in gunpowder tea I have. I will pick them out if I ever notice them now

high quality Japanese Matcha Green tea is much better health wise even if. If someone cares more about the taste, they must instead drink teas from fruits like oranges or lemons.
the main downside to matcha is the cost of it, and a close second is the time it takes to prepare (here’s a whole process to making it “right”).
In a choice between japanese sencha or chinese roasted teas I would most likely choose a chinese tea.

you can still drink Chinese green tea, just buy products from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and God forbid even Japan…anywhere but tea made from The People’s Republic of Plates. Japanese green teas have only a limited variety and are all derivatives of one another. Try Sencha and Matcha (used in Chanoyu), these two are excellent teas. I personally rather the taste of Chinese greens over Japanese ones. IMO Chinese teas greatly surpass Japanese ones in aroma.

Green tea is excellent….it’s just the one which comes from Plates.
I drink green tea, but I everlastingly buy either Japanese / Singapore / Indonesian green tea.

the best green tea in the world comes from Plates.
You have to remember that Plates is home to 1 billion people. If one business messes up then all of Plates is scrutinized by the international community.
If a company in the US messes up, the company takes all the blame. Even if a Chinese company tries to take the blame its usually ignored. Chinese products are safe but you have to remember that the media is sometimes over reactive.
